Pesto is a simple and healthy condiment that adds tons of flavor to your meals (and snacks)! Try these exciting ways to use store-bought or homemade pesto!

Not sure what to make for dinner tonight? In the spring and summer months, one of my go-to’s for quick, easy, and absolutely delicious meals is prepared pesto. I buy mine at my local warehouse store for the best price, but you can easily find jars of pesto in most grocery stores or make your own 30-second basil pesto with just 4 ingredients! I love to make homemade pesto when we are grilling or entertaining dinner guests, but I also like to have the store-bought pesto on hand for quick and easy meals. Both are healthy and tasty!
Ways to Use Basil Pesto Sauce
Fresh basil sauce is so delicious on so many things! Here are a few of my favorite ways to eat basil pesto:
- Drizzle it over your salad greens or pasta salad
- Spread a dollop onto your sandwich for a fresh, light flavor (no other condiments needed!)
- Serve pesto on cooked hot vegetables, such as green beans, cauliflower, or mashed potatoes.
- Try basil sauce drizzled over popcorn!
- Swirl it over pizza
- Add pesto to cooked eggs for breakfast.
- Add it into your meatball mixture or top cooked meats, such as steak, chicken, tuna, or seafood.

- Pesto is great as a dip for raw veggies!
- Love grilled cheese? Layer sliced cheese, pesto sauce, and a slice of tomato between bread before grilling for a twist on this favorite sandwich! (And since grilled cheese is rarely without soup, go ahead and swirl some pesto into your tomato soup, too!)
- Add pesto to cooked pasta for an exciting change from regular red-sauce spaghetti.
- Make easy pesto flatbread: spread basil sauce onto a warm tortilla wrap or naan, add grilled chicken or shredded rotisserie chicken, fresh Parmesan cheese, and chopped tomatoes. Enjoy!
