This slow cooker rotisserie chicken is super easy, inexpensive, and delicious—you may never want a store-bought rotisserie chicken again!
This Thursday is the first day of fall, y’all! As the weather gets cooler, I’m pulling out my Crock Pot and planning lots of slow cooker meals!
This homemade rotisserie chicken is super easy, inexpensive, and delicious—you may never want a store-bought rotisserie chicken again after you try this! Serve the fall-off-the-bone chicken alone, or shred it for a variety of other recipes!
Best of all, you can adapt the seasonings to your preferences, and be confident that you know exactly what is going into it! Did I mention that it’s super easy? We’re talking literally a few minutes of prep time!
Another bonus! After cooking the chicken, don’t wash your slow cooker yet! You can use it again to make delicious and inexpensive (technically, it’s free!) homemade chicken broth by using the chicken bones and/or entire chicken carcass. (It’s just lovely saying “carcass” while talking about food, right?)
I’ve made several other versions of homemade broth, but this one always turns out the best. The slow-simmered broth takes on a rich, dark color and deep flavor from the cooked bits and juices remaining in the slow cooker after making the rotisserie chicken.
Cooking a whole chicken in your slow cooker and yielding savory broth for almost no work at all is a total win-win for our family!
Simple to prep and delicious every time! Use any leftover chicken for soups, casseroles, pizza, etc. Don't forget to add chicken bones back into the slow cooker to make homemade bone broth!
