While there are endless ways to make your own granola, our family is addicted to this easy baked granola. It’s naturally sweetened with honey, so it’s healthier than store-bought versions, and is so simple to make, even your kids can do it!
12 Ways to Use Granola
Whether store-bought or homemade, granola is extremely versatile. Here are 12 creative ways to use granola!
- With yogurt. Sprinkle a few spoonfuls of granola and fresh fruit over unsweetened yogurt to add crunch and natural sweetness.
- As a healthy cereal. Granola is an excellent replacement for sugary store-bought cereals which lack nutrients.
- Ice cream topping. No matter your favorite flavor of ice cream, granola is an excellent accompaniment!
- Healthy snack. Adults and kids alike will find granola an irresistible snack. A fun option for kids is to create a “granola bar” with various mix-ins so everyone can customize the granola to their own preferences!
- Salad “croutons.” Add a salty-sweet crunch to your salad, and avoid the extra carbs from traditional bread croutons!
- Fruit crisp topping. Prepare your favorite fruit crisp, and replace a flour-based topping with a healthier granola topping. Optional: combine granola with softened butter before topping the fruit crisp.
- Trail mix. Add your favorite mix-ins like chocolate chips, dried fruit, and more nuts/seeds for a great on-the-go snack or energy boost.
- Parfaits. Alternate layers of yogurt or pudding with granola for a satisfying dessert, pretty enough to serve to dinner guests!
- Cake decoration. Add to the party by decorating cakes and cookies with granola. Simply sprinkle over the frosting.
- Chocolate clusters. Add a bit of honey or nut butter to the granola to hold it together, then roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and drizzle with (or dip into) melted chocolate.
- Frozen banana coating. Roll bananas in granola and freeze. (Optional: Roll bananas in melted chocolate or nut butter before coating with granola!)
- As a gift. Decorate cellophane bags or small glass jars filled with homemade granola as a thoughtful gift. Don’t forget to include the recipe for the recipient!
