1-Minute Blender Salsa is exactly that—a super easy homemade salsa whipped up in just seconds using your blender or food processor.

Mmmmm…Chips and salsa.
We love Mexican food in our house! It’s actually a bit dangerous having a nice Mexican restaurant less than a mile down the road. (Especially with very few other restaurants nearby.)
When we do eat Mexican at home, my husband’s most-requested dinner is my baked chicken enchiladas. We love to eat the enchiladas with Spanish rice, homemade guacamole, and of course, chips and salsa! We often serve this meal to guests, also.
Especially over the summer, when we have fresh ingredients like tomatoes, I use them as the base for a simple and delicious homemade salsa. Honestly, I usually don’t even follow a recipe; I just dump everything into our blender and hit a button. In less than a minute, I have fresh and delicious salsa for dipping chips into or for topping our favorite enchiladas, tacos, and more.
Salsa is a very forgiving recipe—one that is nearly impossible to mess up if you focus on the flavors you like most and decrease (or exclude) the ingredients you don’t prefer.
Ingredients in Fresh Salsa
- Tomatoes – Fresh or canned will work! We take advantage of the delicious local tomatoes during peak season, but do use canned during the winter, and it still yields a delicious salsa!
- Onion – White onion is our preference, but any kind will work.
- Garlic – Fresh garlic is best!
- Jalapeño – Optional, but it is possible to make a “mild” salsa with seeded jalapeños, and a “medium” or “hot” salsa by including the seeds. Use more than one jalapeño (with seeds) if you like it hot.
- Salt – Add salt to taste, but please don’t skip it altogether!
- Cilantro – Haters can omit it…but cilantro is always included in abundance in my own salsa!
- Lime juice – The perfect addition to add a zip of flavor to your salsa.

How to Make the Perfect Salsa
Making salsa to your own personal preferences is incredibly easy. It’s the perfect recipe for kids, or for adults who are learning to cook—they simply won’t be able to mess it up! Here are some ideas for how to tweak it to be your FAVORITE salsa ever.
- Like your salsa spicy? Include more jalapeño (and don’t remove the seeds).
- Think cilantro tastes like soap? Omit it all together.
- Craving salsa during the winter or don’t have access to good quality, in-season tomatoes? Use canned tomatoes in place of fresh tomatoes.
- Want to sneak extra veggies in for the kids? Just toss in a rough-chopped carrot or bell pepper, or a small handful of spinach, kale, or cauliflower rice. They (and you) won’t even taste it!
- Added too much onion? (or salt? or some other ingredient?) Don’t worry! Simply add more of the other ingredients to “fix” it!
Blender salsa is easy to mix up for an afternoon snack for kids or even a late-night snack before bed. I also like to make a large batch and then divide it into smaller containers to freeze. It freezes well and, once thawed, tastes fresh!
Never be without yummy salsa again!
